Most of the time, people use the words advertising and marketing to mean the same thing, but that is not actually true. In fact, advertising and marketing are two things you need to be doing to get new customers and keep the old ones. When advertising, you are creating a way that people can and will recognize your company. Putting up a banner that says “Just Do It,” for example, is a way that Nike advertises their business. You can change your advertising techniques, according to Entrepreneur, but the general idea needs to be the same. Though Nike may present its product in a bunch of different ways, it never changes the “Do It” logo that is so well recognized. It’s not just creating a logo as much as it is creating brand recognition through advertisements on billboards, on Facebook, in magazines, or wherever you can. It’s the actual ads your company puts out that will fall under advertising.

Marketing is next

You will need to be able to advertise to market because advertising is just one of the many ways to do marketing. Marketing, however, is more of an overall strategy to bringing in new business. Marketing might include texting, pay per call, throwing events, and more. You can’t just put out a poster and hope it is enough. You may also need to hop on Facebook and create an event that people can sign up for and get reminders about.

One of the most valuable ways to market to customers is through pay per call marketing simply because it allows for more word-of-mouth marketing. The more people refer your company, the more sales you’ll get. By paying prominent bloggers for every lead that calls in to your business and asks for more information, you’ll be able to increase the number of new customers calling by quite a bit. You don’t have to do any of the marketing work on your own. Of course, you’ll still want to do advertising and maybe even provide the branding you’d like used on bloggers’ websites, but you won’t have to earn the following to get the leads.
