Social networks for business: getting started

If you are a small business and want to find inexpensive ways to market your company, then you need to consider using the web.

The most important place to start could be with social networks. Maybe you don’t use social networking or even like it, but most of the country does. Most of your competition will be on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but will you?

Creating a company in social networks

You can’t just go get on Facebook and start posting stuff about your company. According to Entrepreneur, you actually need to plan a little bit by asking yourself these ten questions. Of these questions, I’d like to touch on just a few of the most important ones:

  • What should your company goal be with social networking? Your company goal, will most likely, be to get more customers and keep current customers happy.
  • Who is responsible for setting up and maintaining all the accounts? There should probably be one person in charge of maintaining all the accounts, and that person will need to have a good understanding of your company and current market.
  • Should I use all social media or only some of them? Ideally, you will want to use as much social media as possible, though you will probably want to start with just one blog before diving into the rest.
  • How often should you be posting? As a small business, you should, at the very least, be posting once a day. If you can post regularly during the day, that’s even better!
  • Should customer service be available through social media? Of course! What better way to help customers than through a platform they are comfortable with!

One other question I think most people ask is this:

How do I get people to follow my company? The simplest answer is by doing pay-per-call advertising and giveaways. With pay-per-call, you guarantee yourself quality customers and only pay when you actually get a quality lead. With giveaways, people will be sharing your stuff to get access into the giveaway. That means more people will see your products and want to check out your company!

What are the answers?

Many of the answers to your questions will depend on your audience. I can’t stress enough that you need to focus in on your specific audience to get more customers. If there is really one thing you need to start with when you look at marketing, it is your audience.
